Contrary to the historic
Flâneurs of the 1900s, the images of this book do not depict people and
their activities but record material culture and vernacular expression of
citizens observed as I ambled through Paris during numerous visits. The texts
discus these recent preocupations, their social relevance and their importance
for a vital urban life. |

Solitudes-Coney Island Paradox
This first book contain
all of the images made during a visit to Coney Island, NY, one sunny,
cold day in early December when the habitual crowds of summer had disappeared.
For many years I examined these images before I realised they expressed the
quite solitude of solitary persons. The accompanying quotations express
thoughts I had about each image. |

during a 3-day visit to Manhattan, NY. The accomanying text discusses an
exploration of signs, a semeotic device, in an effort to confront their
meaning. |

Graffiti
While visiting Northern Italy, I did my habitual photogrphic
note taking. Later, as I eximined my images I was struck by the frequency of
graffiti in my collection. Curious as I tend to be, I decided to reseach the
history of this contemorary work and its authors. |
