Generally the traveller does not have a source of income while
travelling and is dependent on money carried or money send to points along the
route. Apart from health, money is the most critical item for the traveller's
comfort and enjoyment. Travellers' tales about loss of money are sometimes
horrendous! Here is some advice to help save you from such anguish and
frustration and a few other ideas for money security:
Always carry of
valuables, money and documents on your person not in a purse or bag. Place
other valuables in a safety deposit box at a hotel or on ship; get a receipt.
Keep money, tickets,
passport and visas in hidden zippered pockets of security pouches worn under
clothing.
Carry an extra
"mugger's" wallet for surrender to thieves. If accosted, cooperate, avoid eye
contact, gave "mugger's" wallet. If not satisfied offer other money or
possessions overlooked.
Do not reveal your
money belt or security pouch in public. Make any transfers in a private place,
a toilet is necessary.
Remember your
credit-card number may be on your airline ticket! A second reason to carry it
on your person.
Don't do business
with unofficial money changers.
Plan ahead for your
need of cash. There may be no banks, they may be closed for the weekend of
holiday and ATM machines may be unavailable or may not function, where you will
be tomorrow.

When bargaining has
ended in an agreement to purchase, confirm the agreed price by writing the
figure on a piece of paper before showing any money

the full cost of making local or long-distance phone calls from your hotel room
, as well as any other hotel services before engaging the service.
